National Honor Society

The National Honor Society (NHS) is the nation’s premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to recognize those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since its beginning in 1921.

The objectives of the Daniel Distasio Chapter of the National Honor Society of Greater Nanticoke Area High School are to create an enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote worthy leadership, and to encourage the development of character of students. NHS is involved in a variety of service activities, including canned food drives, Penny Wars, and community cleanups. In addition, NHS hosts an after school peer tutoring program in the high school library on Mondays through Thursdays from 2:00pm-2:30pm when school is in session. No appointment is necessary. Students can also request peer tutoring from NHS members during study halls when available. Please see Ms. Warman or Mrs. Pray for additional information.
